CHARLES
ERNEY

was
born in Budapest, at 13th February 1874. He is the son of
government counsellor general and the National School of
Music's director Joseph Erney of Nagyernye. After
completing his studies at the Commercial Academy, he begun his service by the First
National Savings-Bank of Pest. He has begun in
1894 like a trainee and advanced from step for step, after
more then one generation work, as the late Mr.
Julius Walder's successor into the general
director's chair. Except this institute he practices his
unusual economical activity in a whole set of board of
directors of banks, commercial and industrial enterprises. He
is member of the board of directors among other things of the National Banking Corporation Ltd., the Tannin
Factory and Steam-Saw Ltd. Co. of Nasic, the First
Hungarian Economical Machine Factory, the Steam Mill of
Borsod-Miskolc, the Capital's Brewery, the
Budapest Capital's Traffic Ltd. Co. and the Co-operative
"Hangya"
(Ant).
He is committee member of the Central Corporation of Banking
Companies, main councillor of the National Bank of
Hungary. Stock exchange councillor and president of the Budapest
Commercial Academy's managing committee. To recognize his
services in the Hungarian economics appointed him the
gouvernour in 1923 for main councillor of the treasury. To
this time he did not undertake any poltical activity; at the
appearance of Count Stephen Bethlen he has
been his follower. The Minister of Finance asked often for his
advices, so he practiced deciding influence in many questions
in connection of finances.
